The 13th edition of Exercise Maitree is scheduled to take place from July 1 to 15, 2024, in Tak Province, Thailand, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing military collaboration between India and Thailand. Exercise Maitree began in 2006 as the Thai-Indian Cooperation Field Exercise (TICAFE). In 2013, it was renamed Maitree, meaning “friendship” in Hindi. Each year, India and Thailand alternate hosting the event, with the primary aim of enhancing military ties through shared training operations.

For the 2024 drill, India’s Ladakh Scouts and Thailand’s 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment will each send 76 personnel, reflecting an equal partnership between the two nations.
