The 15th edition of the India-US joint Special Forces Exercise, VAJRA PRAHAR, is underway, with the Indian Army contingent heading to the Orchard Combat Training Centre in Idaho, USA. Scheduled from November 2 to November 22, 2024, this exercise highlights the growing military partnership between the two nations.

Building on Past Collaborations

The previous VAJRA PRAHAR exercise took place in December 2023 at Umroi, Meghalaya. This is the second joint exercise in 2024, following Exercise YUDH ABHYAS, conducted in Rajasthan in September. Such regular engagements reflect the commitment of India and the US to strengthening military collaboration and enhancing operational readiness.

Who’s Participating?

Both India and the US will field 45 personnel each:

  • India: Represented by Special Forces units of the Indian Army.

This balanced representation allows for an effective exchange of expertise, strategies, and operational tactics.

The exercise primarily aims to:

  • Enhance military cooperation.
  • Improve interoperability and operational synergy.
  • Facilitate the exchange of special operations tactics.

By working together, both armies strengthen their capability to operate seamlessly in joint missions.
